In the previous articles, we discussed Self Image and First Impressions.

The 4 Elements That Can Help Create Positive First Impressions are

  1. Clothing
  2. Grooming
  3. Body Language including Etiquette and
  4. Vocal Communication

When used judiciously, they help you project the right image and thereby create powerful First Impressions. But above all your attitude plays a very important role in creating Lasting Impressions.

From a young age, we start acquiring knowledge from our surroundings. We learn different languages, and we adapt to a specific culture. As we grow that knowledge converts into a specific skill set. We start realizing what we are good at and what career or field we want to pursue in our life, and we start acquiring those skill sets. Some decide to be a singer a dancer or an engineer or a sportsperson etc but no amount of knowledge or skills will help you grow in your life if you don’t have the right attitude.

We come across many people in our life who excel in academics but fail in their personal or professional life. Similarly, we come across a lot of people in our life who are average or below average in academics but excel in their lives because of their attitude.

You will be employed because of your Knowledge and Skills. But to grow at higher levels in employment, develop relationships or enjoy life, your attitude will matter.

Remember A-B-C-D

• A – Attitude, Appearance, Attire, Action

• B – Behaviour

  • C – Communication
  • D – Digital presence

Attitude is a matter of Choice. Like business and like much of life, is played primarily in the Mind.

दृष्टि, दृष्टिकोण, सोंच

Your attitude defines how you see the world around you, where your focus lies, what choices you make what emotions you experience.

How Emotions Affect Our Health

“You are not a drop in the ocean but an ocean in every drop”, said Rumi.

What did he mean by that, every cell in our body is intelligent to think and act. We have 60 trillion cells in our body and our health depends a lot on the harmonic balance and cohesion of the cells with each other.

In the movie Eat, Pray Love, Julia Roberts visits a wise man in Bali, and he advises her not to try too hard to meditate he suggests that meditation is nothing but smiling and the line that is a kicker, is ” Smile with your liver. ”

If you believe that this is just a metaphor, let us look at the other end of the spectrum to prove just how crucial this is.

Let us say you hold a negative emotion towards somebody, something or some event in your life, each time you think of that your whole body re-lives the emotional upheaval of that association.

Your mind doesn’t have a mind of its own and doesn’t know if the event is happening in real-time or it is being replayed, so it produces the same stress hormones, and every cell of your body starts feeling the same emotion let’s say “hatred” towards that event, person or experience all over again.

The body is not at ease, this is a state where the condition of dis-ease sets in.

If you continue living in that state, your cells are now conditioned to live in the same state.

The Upanishads talk about “यथा पिंडे तथा ब्रह्माण्डे” as is the atom so is the universe.

A person’s health depends on how well all body systems and the *60 trillion cells* play the melody of harmony together.

When the cells are living in a state of hatred, they soon start exhibiting that with each other and killing healthy cells in the body. This leads to many forms of autoimmune disease.

As Rumi said, “You are not a drop in the ocean, you are an ocean in every drop”.

Be careful of your thoughts, your feelings and your emotions.

Forgive people, not because they deserve it, but because you need it. Stay happy, stay healthy.

A few tips to build a winning attitude

  • Be mindful of your self-talk. It’s a conversation with the universe.
  • It isn’t what you have, where you are, or what you are doing that makes you happy. It is what you think about.
  • Leaders think and talk about solutions. Followers think and talk about the problems.
  • Great Minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people. Eleanor Roosevelt
  • The things you say about others, also say a lot about you.
  • Level up – raise the level of Conversation. Keep your off-work chats simple and non-intrusive.
  • Talking & Thinking About Our Problems Has Generally Become Our Addiction. Let us Break This Bad Habit. Let’s Think, Appreciate & Talk About Our Joys & Value Life.
  • Daily annoyances – learn to step back and witness what is happening within and without.
  • Negative thoughts show up as ugly expressions. Pure thoughts and feelings will always keep us cheerful.
  • Let a series of happy thoughts run through your mind. They will show on your face.

Wishing you a Happy and Purposeful life!
